Overview

During the online qualification round of the 2018 Topcoder Open, we will be awarding a TCO18 Finals trip to the top performer in the new QA track per Stage.

About

Every QA challenge gives you an opportunity to earn TCO18 points!

During the final two stages of the TCO18, a single member will be designated as the QA Online Stage Winner from each both Stage 3 and 4 based on how many points they accumulated during QA challenges.

QA challenges that start within the Stage will be eligible. The winner from each Stage will win a trip to the TCO18 Finals!

Winners are chosen based on the highest points earned from QA contests only. Points from other contest types will not count toward the tally.

Competition Scoring

Scoring in the QA Competition is determined based on the final ranking for a Contestant’s submission in a Tournament-eligible QA Competition (as applicable).

Scores will be rounded to two decimal places.

Upon the completion of all Tournament-eligible QA Competitions, the individual scores that a Contestant receives during all Stages will be added for a cumulative score.

The total placement points to distribute per challenge is based on the total cash prize purse of that challenge.

Schedule

QA Competition Stages Dates
Stage 3 February 1, 2018 – April 30, 2018
Stage 4 May 1, 2018 – July 31, 2018

A member may only win once so if a member wins first place for more than one Stage, the trip will be given to the next member in line who has not already won a trip.

Percentage of Placement Points

Place 1 2 3 4 5
1st 100% 70% 65% 60% 56%
2nd 30% 25% 22% 20%
3rd 10% 10% 10%
4th 8% 8%
5th 6%

All final fixes will be completed according to the schedule specified for the applicable QA Competition. On a case-by-case basis, as determined by Topcoder personnel, placement points may be deducted for failing to complete final fixes on time.

Placement Ties

In the event of a tie for a Stage, the tie will be resolved in the following manner:

  • The tied Contestant with the highest number of first place submissions will receive a higher placement in the QA Competition in that Stage.
  • If a tie still remains, then the remaining tied Contestant with the highest number of second place submissions will receive a higher placement in the QA Competition in that Stage.
  • If a tie still remains, then the remaining tied Contestant with the highest number of third place submissions will receive a higher placement in the QA Competition in that Stage.
  • If a tie still remains, then the remaining tied Contestant with the highest number of fourth place submissions will receive a higher placement in the QA Competition in that Stage.
  • If a tie still remains, then all remaining tied Contestants will receive the same placement.
